Project Hope 2026

Project Hope is an annual outreach designed to serve schools and families before each new school year.

During the last weekend in August, churches partner with neighborhood schools to prepare buildings and grounds for students to return. The next day, five Back-to-School Giveaways & Kids' Fairs provide a fun environment where pre-selected students receive new shoes, backpacks, school supplies, and more!

MEETING THE NEED TOGETHER

When we work together, we can meet the needs of under-resourced children, families, and schools more effectively. Pooling our time, specialties, resources and energy creates potential for exponential impact.

How can you participate?

Sunday, August 30: Back To School Giveaway

Every child deserves to begin the school year with confidence. That's why Storyline is partnering with churches, businesses, and community organizations from across Eugene to serve local families through the annual Project Hope Back-to-School Giveaway.

Whether you love serving behind the scenes or connecting with people, there's a place for you on the team. Together, we'll help create a welcoming experience for hundreds of students and families as they prepare for a new school year.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our Storyline team will serve in a variety of ways throughout the day, including:

  • Event Setup – Help prepare the campus before families arrive.

  • Parking Team – Welcome guests by directing traffic and helping families arrive safely and smoothly.

  • Serving Meals – Assist with preparing and serving food to guests and volunteers.

  • Helping Wherever Needed – From face painting and helping children choose shoes and school supplies to welcoming families and supporting the event team, we'll jump in wherever help is needed most.

No special experience is necessary—just a heart to serve.

Volunteer Training

All Storyline volunteers are encouraged to attend a brief orientation before the event.

Can't Volunteer? You Can Still Make a Difference.

You can help a local student start the school year ready to learn by sponsoring a backpack filled with school supplies.

$25 provides one fully stocked backpack for a child.

Storyline is also investing in this effort through our Community Outreach Fund, and we'd love for you to join us. You can give in person or online by designating your gift to Community Services.

Be the Church. Serve the City.

Project Hope is more than a one-day event—it's an opportunity to share the love of Jesus in practical ways. Together, we'll help hundreds of students and families start the school year feeling prepared, encouraged, and cared for.
